How to Search for Buildings & Sites
As a visitor to the Wisconsin LOIS database, you have the ability to conduct searches of buildings and sites throughout Wisconsin. In addition, you can view detailed maps of buildings or sites using the GIS mapping feature. Other amenities include being able to view quick references and to create printable flyers. To access the LOIS database , begin by clicking on Wisconsin Sites. The link will open the Building Search Results window. 1. Since Wisconsin is the default state, the building search results window will display all buildings available throughout the whole state. To search by county or locality, click on the Modify Search link under the Buildings tab. This feature allows you to build your search by entering certain parameters. You will notice that Wisconsin is the default state. To search by county or locality, click on the related drop-down list boxes to begin. To narrow your search, you may enter the exact building size that you are interested in and continue making your choices until you are ready to click on Search. 2. To search for building sites, click on the Sites tab. The Site Search Results window will open which displays all the available sites. To view information about a specific site, click on the site name in the left-hand column (you may alphabetize the list by clicking on the word Name). A new window will open, beginning with an overview of the site. To view even more about the site, click on the Overview drop-down list box and choose a topic from the list. 3. To take advantage of the GIS mapping capability, click on the link called Maps and Radii Reports. In just a matter of seconds, a map of the building or site you have chosen will appear. This feature is only available when you are viewing a particular building or site. 4. To print a copy of the building or site you have chosen, simply click on the Printable Flyer link. The data will appear in a new window that you may print. 5. To capture a quick view of the data, click on the Quick Reference link. This feature is only available when you are viewing a particular building or site.
